Paediatric physiotherapists help children to achieve their optimal physical development. They have specialist knowledge in the movement, development and conditions, and syndromes and treat children from newborn to adolescence. Paediatric physios use specific techniques and mobilizations of the soft tissue and joints, through play and age-appropriate fun and instruction, to facilitate development and treat a variety of conditions.

Tegan Korevaar - PHYSIOTHERAPIST (George BRANCH)

Tegan is a bubbly and goal-oriented Physiotherapist with a passion for Paediatric Physiotherapy and neuro-rehabilitation. She obtained her honours in Physiotherapy at the University of Witwatersrand which afforded her the opportunity to complete her practicals at some of the largest Public Hospitals in South Africa.

Tegan completed her Community Service year at a tertiary hospital catering to people with intellectual and physical disabilities. Here she was responsible for the paediatric wards, critical care, Physiotherapy Outpatient Department and servicing a local clinic. This exposed her to a wide range of conditions, including cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, spina bifida and developmental delay, among other developmental disabilities. In 2022 she worked as a camp counsellor at a summer camp for adults with special needs in the USA. This provided her first-hand experience of the day-to-day challenges faced by caregivers.

Tegan completed the Malamulele Onward Practical Course on Cerebral Palsy for Therapists, Direct Support Professional training and is a certified Pilates instructor.

Tegan’s experience competing for South Africa at the Junior World Rowing Championships alongside her love for working with people with disabilities inspired her dream to become a Physiotherapist on a paralympic sports team.
